About Our Pieces

Every piece is handcrafted by one of three master artisans in Uzbekistan.

Every piece is handcrafted by master artisans using techniques passed down through generations — some over 800 years old.

Yes. All glazes are made from natural mineral pigments and are food-safe after high-temperature firing (1,100–1,200°C). However, these pieces are designed primarily as display art — not everyday dinnerware.
If you choose to use them for serving, we recommend hand washing only and avoiding prolonged contact with acidic foods.

Each design is produced in a strictly limited quantity — typically 30 to 50 pieces worldwide. Once an edition sells out, it is never reproduced.
Every piece is individually numbered (e.g., "12 of 50") and includes a certificate of authenticity documenting its edition number, artisan, and origin.

Every Usta & Co. piece ships with:

- Certificate of Authenticity — Documenting the artisan, origin, technique, and edition number
- Artisan Information — A photo and bio of the master who created your piece
- QR Code — Links to behind-the-scenes content and the artisan's story

The slight variations in glaze, brushstroke, and color intensity are not flaws — they're proof of handcraft. No two pieces are exactly alike.

Because they're made by hand. Each piece reflects the artisan's individual touch:

- Glaze depth may vary slightly based on application and kiln position
- Colors can shift subtly depending on firing temperature
- Brushstrokes carry the artisan's signature rhythm

These variations are celebrated, not hidden. They're what distinguish authentic handcraft from factory reproduction.

Display And Care

Treat these pieces as heirlooms — they're made to last generations.

These pieces are made to last generations with proper care:

Cleaning:
- Hand wash only with mild soap and warm water
- Dry immediately with a soft cloth
- Never use abrasive cleaners or scrubbers

Avoid:
- Dishwasher, microwave, and oven
- Extreme temperature changes (hot to cold)
- Direct sunlight for extended periods (preserves glaze vibrancy)

Absolutely — most of our pieces are designed for wall display. Wall-mounting hardware (plate hangers) is available separately, or you can use standard disc-style plate hangers.

Tips for wall display:
- Choose a location away from direct sunlight
- Ensure the wall can support the weight (most plates are 1–2 lbs)
- Consider grouping multiple pieces for a gallery-style arrangement

Yes, but with care. All glazes are food-safe, so the pieces can be used for special occasions — serving nuts, dried fruits, olives, or displaying desserts.

However, they're designed primarily as art objects. For regular use, we recommend:
- Hand washing immediately after use
- Avoiding prolonged contact with acidic foods (citrus, vinegar)
- Never putting them in the dishwasher

If not on display:
- Store in the original presentation box with velvet lining
- Place soft cloth between stacked pieces
- Keep in a cool, dry location away from humidity
- Avoid stacking heavy items on top
